BIO Dr. Vera Persits was granted her M.Sc. in chemistry from Rostov State University in 1971. She earned her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Leningrad (currently Saint Petersburg) State University in 1982. The theme of the doctorate was "Investigation of process of electro- thermal atomization and their utilization for the elaboration of methods for the determination of zinc, cadmium, lead, tin, bismuth and antimony in steels and alloys." Dr. Persits authored and co-authored 20 articles and has two patents in analytical chemistry. She worked as a senior scientific worker at Scientific-Industrial firm of Machine-building technology in Moscow until 1991. Since 1992 Dr. Persits worked at IAI (Israely Air Industries) as a chem- ical engineer in the field of plating. 447
